From our new living room.

We love Christmastime!

Carolyn does a fabulous job decorating our house. Fun parties. Family times.

We have a Christmas tradition of climbing Mount Rubidoux—the famous hill in Riverside, California right next to the house Carolyn grew up in. We’ll that next weekend.

One of my favorite Christmas Bible passages is this:

Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” (Philippians 2:5-11 ESV)

So check out this Christmas greeting from Mark & Carolyn.

This church isn’t what you think it is.

How do you feel when you see abandoned churches?

Here’s one I came across a few weeks ago.

I had mixed feelings.

Sure is a pretty old church building…but is it really a church building?

Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.” (1 Corinthians 6:15-20 ESV)

Check out this approximately one-minute video.

The fact that churches are living organisms and often die necessitates church planting.

A few weeks ago I visited the beautiful Normal Rockwellesque downtown of Orange, California. It reminded me of the greatness and beauty of the USA.

At the same time, I thought about the challenges in our country. I  remembered this verse telling how God will heal our land:

If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.” (2 Chronicles 7:14 ESV)

Check out this one-minute heal our land video.

Please pray with me that God will heal our land.

James 4:10 promises this: “Humble yourselves before the Lord, and He will exalt you.”

Whoever conceals his transgressions will not prosper, but he who confesses and forsakes them will obtain mercy.” (Proverbs 28:13 ESV)

Let us test and examine our ways, and return to the LORD!” (Lamentations 3:40 ESV)
